Parque Deportivo del Seguro Social (also known until 1955 as ) was a baseball stadium in the Colonia Narvarte a district of Mexico City .

history

After the renovation and expansion of the Parque Delta stadium built in 1928, the stadium, which now holds around 25,000 spectators, was renamed and reopened in 1955. It was the largest baseball stadium in all of Mexico and the home stadium of the teams Diablos Rojos del México and Tigres de Quintana Roo , which at that time were still known as Tigres Capitalinos and the venue of the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol .

In 1999, the owner Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social sold the stadium and park to the two companies Autocamiones Central, one of the largest Ford truck dealers in Mexico, and the Grupo Gigante , a supermarket and retail chain. The last game took place there on June 1, 2000. The Diablos played against the Tigres as a farewell, with the Diablos being the winners with a score of 9: 7.

In 2003 the shopping center with the old name "Parque Delta" was opened on the historic stadium grounds. In the entrance hall of today's shopping center, an orphaned plaque commemorates the location of the former baseball stadium, the walls in the fast-food area show photographs of the great players of the Diablos Rojos and Tigres. The parking levels of the parking garage are identified with baseball bats, balls and player gloves instead of letters.
