Party for Zurich

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Party for Zurich ( PFZ ) is a political party in the city of Zurich . It was founded on October 17, 2006 as a split from the Swiss People's Party (SVP) and was represented in the city council of Zurich with its two representatives, Susi Gut and Markus Schwyn (party president), who were still elected for the SVP . At the beginning of 2008 the party for Zurich was able to distinguish itself with a successful referendum against city Zurich subsidies for the Club of Rome  .

In March 2010, Susi Gut ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for the Zurich city council against the incumbent Corine Mauch .

In the general renewal elections for the municipal council, also in March 2010, in which the party for Zurich stood for election as a separate party for the first time, it achieved a share of the vote of 0.46 percent, which it failed at the five percent hurdle and its previous ones lost two council seats.

The Party for Zurich, which has a little over 100 members, no longer has a political mandate and therefore considered dissolving the party. At a general meeting in March 2010 the members decided against a dissolution despite the lack of a political mandate. However, the party's website was abandoned over the course of the following months. Nothing more is known about the party since then.
