As a party book business is called the allocation of positions in the public sector and in enterprises under party political influence, but also the allocation of property, goods, services or non-material values (religious, honors) due to party affiliation (ie the possession of a party book ). The factual criteria that are otherwise usual for such award processes are disregarded or treated as subordinate. The party book economy is therefore closely related to political corruption .

Terms related to the party book economy are nepotism , nepotism and networking .

Party bookkeeping in the allocation of posts is a condition and can be a consequence of proportional representation . In certain areas, the friendship economy is mainly operated among party friends, but it is not necessarily political and can easily cross party lines.
