Partido Restauración Nacional

The Partido Nacional Restoration (Party of National Reconstruction) is a party of the conservative spectrum in Costa Rica .

history

The party was founded in 2005. The founding members were mainly dissidents of the former Christian party Partido Renovación Costarricense (Costa Rican Renewal Party), which was founded in 1995. The party's president is Carlos Luis Avendaño Calvo . In the parliamentary elections in Costa Rica in 2018 , the party achieved significant electoral success for the first time. It received 18.11 percent of the vote and 14 members in the 57-seat legislative assembly of Costa Rica . In the previous elections, in the parliamentary elections of 2006, 2010 and 2014, she only had one seat in the PRN parliament.

The PRN is close to the country's evangelical Christians and sees itself as their political arm. Their electoral success is seen with their strict rejection of the legal recognition of same-sex partnerships.
