from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Partido Socialista - Frente Amplio (PS – FA) is the current name of the Socialist Party of Ecuador . The current chairman is Rafael Quintero.

The first socialist party in Ecuador was founded in 1926 with the name Partido Socialista Ecuatoriano (PSE) , but renamed itself to Partido Comunista del Ecuador in 1931 after joining the Communist International . Supporters of the party, who did not want to go along the revolutionary-Marxist, Moscow-oriented path, founded the Partido Socialista Ecuatoriano with the same name in 1933. In the 1930s, the PSE became the third force in the traditional Ecuadorian party system, alongside the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party (both officially founded in 1925). It united in 1995 with the Frente Amplio de Izquierda (Eng. "Wide Left Front", FADI), which had previously represented the Partido Comunista del Ecuador in elections and then changed its name.

She currently supports the politics of Rafael Correa and the Alianza PAÍS . Its political importance has decreased significantly since the 1990s. After the 2006 elections in Ecuador , she appointed one of 100 members of the National Congress. In the Constituent Assembly 2007/08 the party was not officially represented, but stepped up to succeed in many provinces in electoral alliance with Alianza País.

When it was founded, Juan Manuel Lasso was the party's most important representative. Famous politicians of the last decade are the historian Enrique Ayala , who is now with his own party RED acting León Roldós and 2007 in the Official was killed Defense Minister Guadalupe Larriva .
