Enrique Ayala

Manuel Enrique Alejandro Ayala Mora (born November 13, 1950 in Ibarra ) is an Ecuadorian historian, politician of the Partido Socialista - Frente Amplio and intellectual. He is the rector of the headquarters of the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar in Quito .

Ayala's father was an administrator and politician. For the party José María Velasco Ibarras he was from 1960 to 1962 member of the Ecuadorian parliament, from 1953 to 1955 and from 1970 to 1972 he was governor of the province of Imbabura . Ayala Mora obtained a Licenciatura in 1972 and a doctorate in educational science from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador in 1975 . In 1982 he received his PhD in History from Oxford University . He works as the rector of the UASB and as a professor at the Universidad Central del Ecuador . In 1997 and 1998 he was a member of the Constituent Assembly.
