Partial (from Latin for part ) denotes phenomena in which the maximum possible degree does not occur. The term is used in a wide variety of specialist fields , among others
- in medicine (e.g. partial pleurectomy, trisomy, blindness, fractures, etc.)
- in physics , optics or technology ( e.g. in wave resonance and reflection, in flow or material properties)
- in astronomy with the partial eclipse of celestial bodies or the visibility of satellites
- in mathematics , for example for partial derivatives and partial differential equations .
