Components

The alloy consists of 88.5% aluminum , 7.4% copper , 1.7% zinc , 1.1% silicon and 1.3% iron (the quantities given vary depending on the source). It is very light, strong and elastic and was first used in France (in a slightly different composition with tungsten and magnesium ) for bicycles and automobile parts.
