Pascal Weitmann

Pascal Weitmann (* 1960 in Nuremberg ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Life

Pascal Weitmann studied philosophy , classical archeology, art history and Protestant theology in Göttingen and Tübingen . He received his master's in philosophy and in 1994 at the University of Tuebingen in Classical Archeology doctorate . In 1994 he was assistant for the theory of the arts and aesthetics at the University of the Arts in Berlin. During the first funding phase from 2005 to 2008, he worked at the Berlin Collaborative Research Center 644 “Transformations of Antiquity”, where he carried out the sub-project “The example of the Berlin Museum Island 1830–1930” for the sub-project A 9 “Center and Province: Cultural Constructions as Transformations of the Concept of Antiquity in 19th century ”. He completed his habilitation in 2010 at the University of Kiel and has been a private lecturer in classical archeology there since then . Since January 1, 2018 he has been a research assistant at the Gotha Research Center of the University of Erfurt for the NUMiD project, sub-project “The history of university coin collections in Germany”.
