Passover Passover
Passa Passa is a weekly street festival that takes place on the night of Wednesday to Thursday in the Tivoli Gardens of Kingston , Jamaica . It is said to have taken place for the first time on Ash Wednesday 2003. It is the world's best known reggae festival that takes place outdoors and is intended to help participants forget the first half of the week and make the second appear more bearable . Passa Passa is sometimes compared to the New York block parties .
The music is a mix of reggae and dancehall of various forms. A characteristic of the festival is an aggressive, deliberately and consciously vulgar dance style, which has also given it the nickname Hot Fuck Dancing . There were also the so-called passa passa queens , which are girls who attract attention in public due to their lewd behavior.
Passa Passa is organized by the Jamaican sound system Swatch International . The German sound system Everest Sound from Altötting was the only European sound to perform at the Passa Passa.
The name Passa Passa is also used for merchandising campaigns; it was used for club events in other countries such as Germany.
