The passage rock is a Rifffelsen in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the group of the Aitcho Islands , it is 1.8 km west of the Fort William peninsula of Robert Island in the English Strait .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations , who mapped it in 1935, named it so because the rock served as a landmark for them as they passed through the English Strait.
