On February 4, 2009, the first and so far only Andorran preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow ( Russia ) took place under the title Passaport a Moscou .
format
concept
By December 1st, titles could be submitted to the public broadcaster Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra , and a total of 107 contributions were sent to RTVA. Most of the titles came from abroad and were in English . The head of the delegation announced, however, that the title will be sung in Catalan in Moscow and that all English-language titles, if they are elected to the final, will be translated into Catalan.
Three titles were selected for the preliminary round: Get a life by Susanne Georgi , Estrelles d'or by Marc Duranteau and Marc Canturri and Exhaust by Lluís Cartis . The title Get a life is presented as La teva desició . When it turned out that the title Estrelles d'or was already participating in the Spanish preliminary decision in 2008 , it was replaced by Passió obsessiva by Mar Capdevila .
Initially, the final was announced for January 30th. But then RTVA changed the concept slightly: There were three introductory shows, first for Susanna Georgi (January 14th), then for Mar Capdevila (January 21st) and finally for Lluís Cartes on January 28th. During the broadcasts, viewers already had the opportunity to call for the respective title. The televoting results were added to those of the jury at the final.
Choice of contribution
Originally, composers had the opportunity to submit a contribution to RTVA from October 24 to December 31, 2008. On November 8, 2008 the broadcaster announced that the submission deadline would end on December 1, 2008. Interested interpreters could submit up to three contributions, at least one of which had to be sung in Catalan . Composers were allowed to submit one contribution each. A total of 107 contributions were submitted. Of these, 64 were individual applications from composers without a suitable interpreter, 15 applications from interpreters without a song and 28 applications from candidates with a suitable song.
