The Passauer Bistumsblatt is a Catholic weekly newspaper of the Diocese of Passau .

It sees itself as the organ of the bishop to the faithful of his diocese, informs and comments on events in the diocese and in the universal Church. The diocesan gazette appeared for the first time under the name Mitteilungsblatt des Episcopal See on July 1, 1936 at the instigation of the then Bishop Sigismund Felix Freiherr von Ow-Felldorf , with the bishop dying before it was published.

In spring 2007, a fundamental reorientation of the diocesan gazette was announced. Production and sales were transferred to the newly founded publishing house Passauer Bistumsblatt GmbH. Pastor Hans Würdinger was editor-in-chief until July 2007. With the restructuring, Werner Windpassinger became his successor from September 2007. At the same time, the position was expanded to include the function of sole managing director, so that Windpassinger was responsible for both the editorial and commercial areas. In March 2009 he was replaced by Wolfgang Krinninger. The publishing director and editor is Vicar General Klaus Metzl .
