As spoolie (depending on the design and fitting screw , ball sleeve or fitting ring ) is in the electrical installation , a device referred to, which is intended to prevent a screw fastening with a higher rated current than for the respective circuit can be permitted, inserted into the fuse holder.

A passport is used by the qualified electrician , in most cases this is an electronic technician for energy and building technology in the fuse base according to the current job title . A fuse in this context is a neozed or diazed fuse , such as can be found in households and industrial plants. This article does not deal with the types of fuses such as those used in motor vehicles, in electrical devices or on electronic circuit boards.

The assembly (and disassembly) is carried out by a special tool, the spoolie key or pass wrench . The purpose of the fitting insert is to prevent laypersons from mistakenly or deliberately using a fuse that is unsuitable for the subsequent circuit or its design.

The inner diameters of the fitting inserts correspond to the outer diameters of the foot contacts of the corresponding fusible links. The same applies to the identification colors: The adapter inserts have the same identification colors as the associated fuse insert with the highest permissible rated current. Fusible links with a lower rated current than the fitting insert can be used.
