With Passi meters a ticket donors is called. This had the task of checking or selling tickets when entering or leaving locked areas. There were also car passimeters that had a ticket machine connected to a turnstile.

Examples

The passimeters were housed in buildings or in houses at underground stations. If several passimeters were required for faster processing, there were passimeter systems.

The control and issue of tickets in this form was very labor-intensive. The passimeter houses on the Munich S-Bahn were only used in the early days. They were later used as a lounge for control complaints, as they were equipped with a BASA telephone . Quite a few were converted into sales kiosks, for example at Munich Marienplatz train station .
