Pat Oliphant

Patrick Bruce "Pat" Oliphant (born July 24, 1935 in Adelaide , Australia ) is a political cartoonist . Oliphant's trademark is a little penguin named Punk , who often appears at the edge of his caricatures and makes a comment on what is happening.

The native Australian emigrated to the United States in 1964 and quickly became a celebrated cartoonist. During his 50-year career he published countless daily political drawings and many books for the daily newspapers The Denver Post and The Washington Star . Oliphant's work has been criticized several times, including by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and the Simon Wiesenthal Center .
