Pata (* 4. November 1965 in Chiba , Chiba Prefecture , Japan as Tomoaki Ishizuka ( Jap. 石塚智昭 , Ishizuka Tomoaki )) is a Japanese guitarist.

He is one of the two guitarists of the Japanese rock band X Japan , which existed from 1982 to 1997 and has been active again since 2007.

biography

X Japan

In the first half of the 80s, Pata played guitar at various festivities and later founded the band Black Rose , which was renamed Judy shortly afterwards . In the meantime, Pata helped out with Band X as a guitarist for studio recordings. When their guitarist Isao suffered a serious traffic accident, Pata became an official member of the band, which renamed itself X Japan in 1992. He played there until their dissolution in 1997 as the second guitarist. Pata was able to play hide guitar in sync with X Japan's first guitarist . He stays very much in the background, both at concerts and during interviews, so that little is known about his life and personality.

paf

In 1998 he founded the band paf (Patent Applied For), shortly thereafter an album of the same name followed. Bass player was Chirolyn (ex-Spread Beaver). Two studio albums were released under the titles paf and paf # 0002 and a live album called Live .

Dope HEADz

Later in 2000 he founded the band Dope HEADz together with X Japan's former bass player heath and INA from hide's band Spread Beaver with JO: YA as the singer . On July 6, 2001 Dope Headz's first album, Primitive Impulse, was released and in February 2002 singer JO: YA was replaced by Shame. On July 24, 2002, the second album Planet of the Dope was released . In June 2003 the band broke up.

Ra: IN

Pata's current project, which he started with bass player Michiaki Suzuki and drummer Tetsu Mukaiyama in 2002, is called Ra: In . The band name was given by Masayoshi Kabe, the bassist of the bands Golden Cups and Pink Cloud and is the short form of the composition of Rock and Inspiration .

In autumn 2003 the album The Line was released . In spring 2004 Ra: IN had two small concerts in Shanghai, where they were enthusiastically celebrated by the Chinese fans. In May 2005 the band played their first concert outside of Asia in Paris. In September of that year, they concluded their Summer of Love Tour with an appearance as part of the hide Museum's closure. In 2006, the next publication, Before the Siren, followed . In 2007 DIE became a member of the band.

In 2008 the band played at the Japan Expo 2008 in Paris, in June 2009 they visited Germany for the first time and played in the Berlin Magnet and in the Cologne workshop. Even after the reunion of X Japan, Pata continues to play concerts with Ra: IN. In 2011 the band played at the Yokohama Summer Rock Festival.

other activities

Like other members of X Japan, Pata began solo activities during his time with the band. In 1993 Pata's album was released with the title Pata . On this album he was helped by James Christian as singer, Tim Bogert as bassist, Tommy Aldridge as drummer and as keyboardist and co-producer Daisuke Hinata. In 1995 the next album Raised on Rock was released , this time with Chuck Wright on bass and Ken Mari on drums.

While both hide and Pata were playing at X Japan, Pata supported his colleague in 1994 and 1996 on his solo project with the band Spread Beaver as a guitarist. However, he remained an unofficial member.

In April 2002, Pata produced two singles Love around and Summer Day's Drive , as well as the first album Force of Filth of the indie band e.mu .

In autumn 2002 Pata became a member of the musician Miyavi's backing band , which also included Chirolyn (ex- Spread Beaver ), Ru-ku (guitarist from Canta ) and Shinya (ex-drummer from Luna Sea ).

He played at the Simple Life Music Festival in Taiwan on December 2, 2006 with Taiwanese pop star Faith Yang .
