The patches Plain , with a length of over four kilometers and a width of approximately one kilometer, the largest level of the island Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic . It is located in the northwest of Tristan da Cunhas, west of the island's only settlement, Edinburgh of the Seven Seas . The level can be reached via a 4.5 km long, unpaved road from Edinburgh. This road is the only one on the island that leaves the main town. The plain is on the coast of the island and rises to the southwest to over 200 meters. At the end of the plain, the steep rock walls of the volcano begin, the highest point of which is Queen Mary's Peak (2062 meters) in the middle of the island.

About three kilometers southwest of Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, in the north of the plain, are the Potato Patches ( location ), a field of irregularly arranged beds. In the flower beds, which are surrounded from protection against weather by walls, have been used for about 150 years, mainly potatoes (Engl. Potatoes and other vegetables for) self-catering planted. Every family on the island has their own fields that they cultivate themselves.

There is also a camping hut on the leeward side of a small volcanic hill on the plain . Nearby is Runaway Beach , home to the most popular rock pools on the island. Because of sharks and ocean currents, the islanders usually do not bathe in the open sea, but in rock pools.
