Patricia Remak

Patricia Joan Remak-Boerenstam (born July 16, 1965 in Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch politician of Surinamese origin. From 1998 to 2002 she was a member of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament .

Life

Remak studied tax law at the University of Leiden and worked for the Dutch customs administration . From 1997 to 1998 she was an alderman for the liberal Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie in the sub-municipality of Amsterdam-Zuidoost . In 1998 she became a member of the Second Chamber. In 2003 she became a member of the Parliament of the Province of North Holland . In June 2005 she left the VVD parliamentary group and was an independent member of the provincial parliament until 2007.

In January 2007, Patricia Remak was convicted of fraud . She received a waiting allowance as a former member of the Second Chamber, although she was not entitled to it because she received a substantial income as a member of the parliament of the province of North Holland. In 2008, she was sentenced to six months in prison on appeal.
