Patrick F. Baxter

Patrick F. Baxter ( Irish Pádraig Baicstéar , born October 1, 1891 , † April 3, 1959 ) was an Irish farmer and politician .

Baxter was elected to the 4th Dáil Éireann in 1923 for the Farmers Party in the Cavan constituency. In 1927 he was re-elected in the same constituency. However, since the 5th Dáil Éireann was dissolved again in 1927, Baxter did not stay Teachta Dála for long . He held his next political office from 1934, when he was elected to the Seanad Éireann of the Irish Free State for nine years . However, this was abolished in May 1936.

From 1938 until his death, Baxter was now Senator in the 2nd to 9th Seanad Éireann. During this time he served as Senate President ( Cathaoirleach ) from 1954 to 1957 , and from May 1957 until his death as Deputy Senate President ( Leas-Chathaoirleach ).
