Patrick Hunout is a French social psychologist , social scientist and social politician .

His investigations relate to the function of mental attitudes in the further development or blocking of social change . The relations between capital and labor, the interethnic relations and the interpersonal relations are in the foreground of his work.

With numerous books and articles, he is one of the most prominent representatives of the current social reform discussion.

Social model

His work examines the formation of a “New Leviathan” on the hypothesis that the higher class of society is striving for a new order based on less equality and less democracy.

His scientific model suggests that the New Leviathan's strategies intimately connect the economic, ethnic, and personal domains. These strategies consist of developing economic flexibility and revocability, continuing immigration and ethnic diversity, and promoting individualistic, hedonistic and consumer values. These strategies result in a weak society dependent on market values and government controls required by the inability of the social body to govern itself. In Hunout's view, they are responsible for most of the troubles of today; if they were reversed, there would be a significant improvement.

Important works

In 1999 Patrick Hunout founded The International Scope Review , one of the largest peer-reviewed international sociology and economics journals.

Patrick Hunout is the founder of The Social Capital Foundation , established in 2002, the aim of which is to help restore and strengthen the social bond in Europe.

The Foundation The Social Capital Foundation (TSCF) in Brussels proposes the development of a democratic "middle-class" society, the fair allocation of property, the protection of cultural identity and the strengthening of the community spirit in our society.
