The Paul Klee School (named after the painter Paul Klee ) is a Catholic primary school at Gerresheimer Straße 34/36 in Düsseldorf . It was founded in 1907. In the 2007/2008 school year, 216 children attended school in eight classes.
history
The school was inaugurated as a primary school on Gerresheimer Strasse in 1907. It was intended for seven boys 'and seven girls' classes, for a total of 900 students. 785 children attended the school in the first year.
A parents' council was elected for the first time in 1920 . In 1921 the school building was confiscated by the French occupying forces. The classes were outsourced to the Protestant elementary school on Lindenstrasse for six months. In 1922 a school cinema was set up. This tradition was taken up again in 2005. Every spring there is now an open-air cinema show.
In 1933, National Socialist holidays and school events had to be introduced. In 1934, Rector Philipp Mock took over the school management and directed the school through the time of National Socialism and the difficult war years until 1946. From 1939 all denominational schools became community schools and today's elementary school was named Deutsche Schule . Due to the increasing danger of bombing, the Düsseldorf schools were also relocated in 1943. They came to the Bergisches Land in Dabringhausen .
Since the primary school was almost the only one that was not destroyed in the bombing raids, the school opened again on April 6, 1945. A year later, the existing community school was again allowed to bear the title of Catholic primary school . Structural improvements from 1949 (break, toilets, gym, work room, kitchen) gave it its present appearance until 1965.
When the separation into primary and secondary school took place in 1966 , grades 1 to 4 remained in the building with a total of ten classes and the school was now called the Catholic elementary school . It gave itself the current name Paul Klee School in 1997.
