Paul Buntrock

Paul Buntrock (born April 3, 1915 in Berlin , † 1985 ) was an officer in the Air Force of the Wehrmacht and later the Air Force of the Bundeswehr .

Life

Buntrock joined the Air Force on March 2, 1936 and completed training at the Air Force News School in Halle / Saale by August 24, 1939 . On November 15, 1939, he changed to the flying company of the Luftnachrichten-Regiment of the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force (Ln.-Rgt. Ob.dL). He took part in the western campaign and was from June 13, 1940 liaison officer with the Italian Air Force in Rome . There he was promoted to first lieutenant on July 1, 1940 . From December 21, 1940, he took up duties in the staff of the Luftnachrichten-Regiment 40, before he switched to the Luftnachrichten-Company of Kampfgeschwader 3 on August 23, 1941 . At that time, this squadron was subordinate to the II. Fliegerkorps of Luftflotte 2 in the war against the Soviet Union . On November 29, 1941, he took over this company as chief and remained so until November 1, 1942. He then took part in a general staff course at Luftkriegsschule 2 in Berlin-Gatow . After he had completed this in October 1943, he moved to the Reich Ministry of Aviation , now as captain . On February 1, 1944, he took over duties in the General Staff of the Air Force, where he was promoted to major on May 1, 1944 . On November 1, 1944, he became the first General Staff Officer (Ia) in the staff of the Higher Intelligence Officer of Luftflotte 4 , before he became an intelligence officer of the 4th Air Division on February 27, 1945. There he saw the end of the war.

In 1956 he joined the Air Force of the German Armed Forces and was the first commander of the Air Force Command Service as Brigadier General from October 1970 to March 1971 . He retired as major general.
