Paul Kunz (physicist)

Paul Kunz (* 1942 ; † September 12, 2018 ) was an American particle physicist and software developer. He set up the first web server outside of Europe.

After meeting with Tim Berners-Lee from CERN , he came to the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and reported from the World Wide Web . On Thursday, December 12, 1991, thanks to the efforts of Paul Kunz, Louise Addis and Terry Hang, the web server in question started up.

Kunz was also the originator of the open source project GNUstep .
