Paul Lechler junior

Paul Lechler junior (born June 14, 1884 in Stuttgart ; † August 4, 1969 there ) was a German manufacturer and clergyman. From 1948 to 1960 he was President of the Regional Church Congress of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg .

Life and work

Lechler jun., Son of Paul Lechler , took over the paint and varnish factory in Stuttgart after the death of his father.

Church engagement

Lechler got involved early on in the church and social sphere. For many years he was a parish councilor in Stuttgart, chairman of the board of directors of the German Institute for Medical Missions and member of the board of directors of the EKD relief organization , which was merged with the EKD's social welfare organization in 1957 .

In 1934 Lechler was a member of the Confessional Synod in Berlin-Dahlem and of the State Brothers Council of the Württemberg Confessional Community. After the Second World War , Lechler was a representative of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg in the church assembly in Treysa , which led to the establishment of the Evangelical Church in Germany .

As early as 1940 Lechler moved in for the resigned MP Dill in the 3rd regional church convention of the Evangelical regional church in Württemberg. In 1948 he was elected to the 4th Landeskirchentag. The MPs there elected him their president. He was also the head of this body at the 5th Regional Church Congress. At the end of the legislative period he decided not to run again. Heinz Autenrieth was his successor in 1960 . From 1948 Lechler was also a member of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany .
