Paul Merton
Paul Merton (actually: Paul James Martin ; born July 9, 1957 in London ) is an English comedian and presenter .
From 1982 Merton had first appearances in the comedy club Comedy Store in Soho . A few years later he became a permanent member of their improv comedy troupe The Comedy Store Players . From 1988, Merton became known on television as a member of the Channel 4 telecast Whose Line Is It Anyway? . He has been in the panel show Just a Minute since 1989 and in Have I Got News for You since 1990 . From 1991 he had his own sketch show for three years with The Series . From 1999 to 2007 he hosted the comedy talk show Room 101 .
From 2007 he moderated multi-part humorous travel documentaries: Paul Merton in China (2007, 4 episodes), Paul Merton in India (2008, 5 episodes) and Paul Merton in Europe (2010, 6 episodes).
He has received the British Comedy Award twice: in 1992 as Top TV Comedy Personality and in 1999 as Best Comedy Entertainment Personality .
