Paul Schmitz (born March 24, 1920 in Südlohn / Ahaus district ; † September 16, 1993 ) was a German CDU politician .

education and profession

After attending primary school, Paul Schmitz worked as a textile worker. In 1952 he became the workers' secretary of the Catholic labor movement and in 1973 he became the diocesan chairman. From 1975 he acted as deputy chairman of the KAB and member of the federal board of the KAB

politics

Paul Schmitz became a member of the CDU in 1947. He was local chairman of the CDU and member of the district executive committee of the CDU of the Borken district since 1975. His other political offices: From 1965 to 1974 deputy district party chairman of the CDU and member of the district council Südlohn from 1952 to 1969. He was also a member of the Representation of the Stadtlohn Office. He was also a member of the Ahaus district council from 1961 to 1964 and again from 1969 to 1974, and chairman of the parliamentary group since 1973. Schmitz was a member of the Borken district council from 1975 to 1979. He was a member of the textile and clothing union.

From July 25, 1966 to May 29, 1985 Paul Schmitz was a directly elected member of the 6th , 7th , 8th and 9th state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia for constituency 082 Ahaus and constituency 093 Borken III.

Honors

Schmitz was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on March 16, 1990 .
