Paul Terracini

Paul Terracini (* 1957 ) is an Australian conductor , composer and arranger .

Career

From 1975 to 1979 he played the first trumpet in the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra . From 1982 to 1988 he taught trumpet, brass music, brass ensemble and big band at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music . He later spent around 20 years in Europe, among other things as the solo trumpeter of the Danish Chamber Players from 1991 to 2007. Concert tours have taken him throughout Europe, Asia, South America and the USA. He also held the office of chairman of the Danish Storstrom's Symphony Orchestra for 16 years . In Australia he worked as a trumpeter with internationally renowned orchestras such as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra , the Queensland Symphony Orchestra , the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra .

As a conductor he released ten albums with the Symfonický orchestr hlavního města Prahy FOK , conducted at the German Opera Festival Rossini in Wildbad and directed other orchestras in Denmark and Italy both in concert and in opera. He also taught as a guest lecturer at various music universities in Europe and in China.

As a composer, his music is performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass , the Symfonický orchestr hlavního města Prahy FOK , the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Brass and the Australian Chamber Orchestra , among others . In particular, his compositions for film and television became known worldwide. The soundtrack for the two-part television film Hymns Of The Forefathers was released on CD and DVD by EMI and received positive international reviews. The theme music for the television series Classical Destinations was included in the best-of production Number 1 Classical Album of 2007 by Decca Records . He also composed two works for the annual conference and the International Trumpet Guild in 2010 and conducted their world premieres himself.

Today Paul Terracini is Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Penrith Symphony Orchestra in Sydney.
