Paul sisters
The Paul Sisters (Latin: Congregatio Filiarum Sancti Pauli , abbreviation FSP ) are a Roman Catholic congregation of women, founded on June 15, 1915 by Blessed Giacomo Alberione in Alba (Northern Italy), for the preaching of the Gospel through the mass media.
history
The Paul Sisters are the first female branch of the Paul family that began with the founding of the Society of St. Apostle Paul (brothers and priests), on August 20, 1914, by the Italian priest Giacomo Alberione. In 1922, Tecla Teresa Merlo (1894–1964) was appointed the first General Superior . The ecclesiastical approbation was granted for the Paul sisters on March 15, 1953 by Pope Pius XII. Today the approx. 2500 Paulus sisters are represented on all continents in approx. 50 countries. In Germany there are 16 Paulus sisters living in two branches: Nuremberg (head office) and Düsseldorf.
mission
The goal of the congregation is to "spread the gospel through the mass media". They live and teach according to Pauline theology .
