Peace Island is a small island in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of Melchior Islands , it is the northernmost of a series of islands that are spread out 1.5 km of the western foothills of the Eta Island in a northerly direction.
The name probably goes back to scientists of the British Discovery Investigations , who surveyed the island in 1927. Further measurements were made during Argentine Antarctic expeditions in 1942, 1943 and 1948.
