Dame Calliopa Pearlette Louisy GCMG (born June 8, 1946 in Laborie , St. Lucia ) was the Governor General of St. Lucia from 1997 to 2017 .

Louisy studied languages ​​and linguistics at the University of the West Indies and with a Canadian scholarship at Laval University in Québec . She then worked at various schools in St. Lucia, most recently in managerial positions. In 1991 she continued her studies at the University of Bristol .

Louisy was sworn in on September 19, 1997 and is the first woman to hold this position. She is also the governor general with the longest term in office since the independence of St. Lucia.
