Pedro Bordaberry
Pedro Bordaberry (born April 28, 1960 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan politician. He is considered reform-minded and was a candidate for the 2009 presidential election in Uruguay and again in the 2014 elections .
Life
Bordaberry's father, Juan María Bordaberry, was President and dictator of Uruguay from 1972 to 1976. During the presidency of Jorge Batlle Ibáñez , Bordaberry was Minister for Industry and then Tourism.
He was a candidate for the historic state and governing party Partido Colorado for mayor ( Intendente ) in Montevideo. In the elections in May 2005, he was able to triple his party's share from 8.4% to 25%.
As a candidate for the Partido Colorado for the 2009 presidency, he succeeded Guillermo Stirling , who had achieved just under 11% in 2004 (after 32.8% in 1999). Bordaberry achieved around 17%. In the 2014 presidential election he achieved 13.3%.
