Pedro Lay

Pedro da Silva Lay is a politician from East Timor . He does not belong to any party, but is close to the Congresso Nacional da Reconstrução Timorense (CNRT). From 2007 to 2015 he was Minister under Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão .

Life

Pedro Lay is an electrical engineer. He completed his studies in Australia , where his family had fled from the Indonesian invasion. Since August 8, 2007 he was Minister for Infrastructure, from August 8, 2012 for Transport and Communication. With the resignation of Prime Minister Gusmão and the subsequent government reshuffle , Lay left the East Timorese cabinet on February 16, 2015 .

Others

Lay belongs to the Hakka - Chinese minority in East Timor . His brother Francisco Kalbuadi Lay was Minister of Tourism from 2012 to 2017.
