Pedro Nájera Pacheco (born February 3, 1929 in Mexico City - † August 22, 2020 ), also known by his nickname Siete Pulmones (Seven Lungs ), was a Mexican football player who played in midfield .

Pedro Nájera played for Club América between 1954 and 1962 .

After his active career, he worked as a physical supervisor for the then provincial club Cruz Azul , which soon developed into one of the main rivals of Club America . In 1970 he switched to the supervisory staff of his former club América and worked there as head coach in the 1974/75 season.

National team

Without having played a single international match by then, he was appointed to the Mexican World Cup squad in 1954 , but remained there without being used. His debut in the national team was Pacheco only on March 4, 1956 in an international match against Peru, which was lost 2-0. While he was not included in the 1958 World Cup, he was one of the regular players at the 1962 World Cup and played all three Mexican games in full. The historic 3-1 victory against the eventual runner-up world champions Czechoslovakia on June 7, 1962 (Mexico's first ever World Cup victory) was also his last appearance in the national team.
