Pedro Reszka
Pedro Abelardo Reszka Moreau (born June 10, 1872 in Antofagasta , † March 6, 1960 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean painter.
Reszka attended the Liceo de Hombres in Valparaíso and studied drawing with Juan Francisco González . From 1893 he was a student of Cosme San Martín and Pedro Lira at the Academia de Bellas Artes . In 1901 he led the Chilean delegation to the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo. After his return to Chile, he received a state grant to study in Paris. There he continued his training with Fernand Humbert , attended the class of Jean Paul Laurens and was accepted into the salon of the Société des Artistes Français .
When the First World War broke out, he returned to Chile and began teaching painting. In 1918 he was the founder of the Sociedad Nacional de Bellas Artes , of which he was president until his death. In 1947 he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Arte . Reska's works are among others. a. owned by the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and in the art gallery of the Universidad de Concepción .
