Pegasus Theater

The Pegasus Theater ( Greek Θέατρο Πήγασος ) is an association of professional and amateur actors. The repertoire is extensive and ranges from pieces for children to the interpretation of classical Greek tragedies. The seat of the theater is in Agias Ekaterinis, Katerini, Greece.

The Pegasus Theater was officially founded in 1982 by students from the Drama School of the State Theater of Northern Greece. The first members of the theater began preparatory activities as early as 1980, so that in 2020 the 40th anniversary was celebrated. In the meantime, over 100 pieces by domestic and foreign authors have been performed, for example by:

In addition to the theater operations and the rehearsals necessary for this, emphasis is placed on the training of young theater professionals. Three groups were created according to age:

  • Children (6 to 12 years)
  • Teenagers (13 to 18 years)
  • Adults

The children are introduced to the topic with games. Later they learn to use gestures and facial expressions and to improvise. The young people fine-tune their expression, they are introduced to the art of acting and the history of theater.

Performances

The theater group plays mainly in northern Greece, but has also performed several times in Kiev and other cities in Ukraine. The adults put on two new plays every year. The Pegasus Theater plays regularly as part of the Olympos Festival .
