Gauge house in Bad Düben

The water level house is a historically significant building from 1893 in Bad Düben , which was used to measure the level of the Mulde until 1995 .

history

The measurement of the water level in the Mulde took place in Bad Düben from January 1, 1824, using a bar gauge on the bank of the Mulde . The gauge house was built in 1893 and is located next to the Mulde river in Bad Düben at kilometer 68.1 above the confluence with the Elbe. It is an octagonal clinker brick building with a tent roof and is of importance in terms of both architectural and technical history. The octagonal building consists of 8 side walls in which an access door and three windows are integrated. Inside there is a floor opening and using measuring instruments, a so-called writing level in the house, the water levels were measured from April 1, 1893. The task of the measuring point was to determine the main level of the United Mulde , flood level, yearbook level, level with data transfer transmission. On September 1, 1995, the measurements during the construction of the new bridge and the necessary construction of a gauge house with a cable crane system were discontinued. Since then, the building has been used as a small hydrological museum and is a listed building.

* Closure of regional traffic connections
* In the case of diked bodies of water, the water is up to half the height of the dyke
* Constant security service on the dykes by the water weirs
* Implementation of preventive safety
