Pekka Tukia

Pekka Tukia is a Finnish mathematician who studies Klein groups and their geometric properties (such as Limes sets ).

Tukia received her doctorate from Kaarlo Virtanen in Helsinki in 1972 (On Discrete Groups of the Unit Disk and their Isomorphisms). He is a professor at Helsinki University .

He did essential preliminary work to prove the Seifert fiber space conjecture . In 1992 he was an invited speaker at the European Congress of Mathematicians in Paris (Generalizations of Fuchsian and Kleinian groups). In 1994 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Zurich (A survey of Möbius groups).
