The Pendo Verlag is a 1971 in Zurich , was established in fiction and non-fiction publishing, today for Piper Verlag belongs.
Publishing history
The Pendo Verlag was founded in 1971 by the reporter Gladys Weigner and the photographer Bernhard Moosbrugger in Zurich to create an independent forum for cultural understanding, which was also important to both of them in their journalistic work. The first book by the Brazilian Archbishop Dom Hélder Câmara , The Voice of the Mute World , was programmatic for the publisher's name - the word 'Pendo' comes from Swahili and means love and understanding.
In 1998 Ernst Reinhard Piper took over the publishing house before it was transferred to Eichborn Verlag in 2001 . Since October 2004 the publishing house has been owned by Christian Strasser . In November 2006 Doris Janhsen, previously head of the List and Claassen publishers and Droemer Verlag , became managing partner and co-publisher. On July 1, 2008, the publishing house was taken over by Piper Verlag .

Controversy over Eva Herman
In the fall of 2006, the book "The Eva Principle" by Eva Herman received greater public attention . The follow-up book “The Principle Noah's Ark” also sparked discussions in autumn 2007. On October 9, 2007 there was a scandal when the pendo author from the talk show by Johannes B. Kerner (ZDF) was asked. The then publisher Strasser was "appalled and shocked by the program, not by Eva Herman" and described the program as a "mega-disaster".
