Pendragon is an English neo-prog band.

history

Pendragon was founded in 1978 under the name "Zeus Pendragon" by the singer and guitarist Nick Barrett (born June 8, 1961). The component "Zeus" was dropped before the first recordings. After there had been some personnel changes in the early days of the band, the line-up remained unchanged from 1986. It was not until 2006 that Joe Crabtree replaced the original drummer Fudge Smith and was again replaced by Scott Higham in 2008. Craig Blundell has been playing the drums since 2014.

On the occasion of their 30th anniversary, Pendragon went on an extensive European tour in autumn 2008, which also took them to Germany for five concerts. In 2011 the studio album Passion was followed by a major European tour. In October 2014, the tenth studio album Men Who Climb Mountains was released .

style

The music of Pendragon is dominated by the emotional guitar playing and singing of Nick Barrett. In the course of the more than 30-year history of the band, the style of the band has changed significantly: While the first albums were clearly influenced by neo-prog and bands like Marillion , AOR and new-art rock influences were added later.
