history
Penhaligons started out as a barber in the hammam on Jermyn Street . Penhaligon created his own personal care products, which he sold to his hairdressing clients, many of whom were politicians of the time. The first stand-alone shop opened on Jermyn Street and the second shop opened on 33 St James' Street . In the late 1920s, the store moved to Bury Street . The original buildings were destroyed in the Battle of Britain in 1941, but the shop on Bury Street remained untouched. Penhaligon's was bought by the Spanish company Puig International SA . Penhaligon's is purveyor to the court of the English royal family.
