description

The Penilee Sports Pavilion is one of the sports facilities of the Paisley Grammar School . It is located off Penilee Road to the east of Paisley, near the border with Glasgow . The architecture firm Cook and Hamilton by H. Cook was responsible for the planning of the building, which was completed in 1937 . Previously, the building was also assigned to James Steel Maitland , which is to be regarded as unlikely based on the received construction documents.

The building is designed in a modern style. The largely symmetrical complex consists of a two-story main building with single-story extensions on both sides. In the middle, a one-story building section emerges semicircular. A band of exposed brick runs around the foot , while the remaining facade surfaces are plastered. Circumferential, raised decorative bands are in a contrasting color. Doors lead into the interior of the building on both sides of the porch. In addition, curved, brick staircases lead to a balcony on the roof of the porch. The interior is accessible from there through a suspected door.

Steel windows are installed on the building complex, which are arranged either individually or as twin or triple windows. It ends with flat roofs with circumferential rain gutters with a square profile. A flat brick wall surrounds the outer courtyard.
