Penrhyndeudraeth

Penrhyndeudraeth ( headland with two beaches in Welsh ) is a village of 1500 people in Gwynedd , Wales , near the River Dwyryd .

In 1852 the swamp in what is now the center of Penrhyndeudraeth was drained by owner David Williams and the village began to grow steadily. With the connection to the railway network in 1872, one of the most important branches of industry in Penrhyndeudraeth was established with a gun cotton factory . The place still has two railway stations, one on the main line from Pwllheli to Shrewsbury and another, Penrhyn station , which is part of the Ffestiniog Railway .

The mathematician, logician and philosopher Bertrand Russell died in Penrhyndeudraeth on February 2, 1970 .
