Pentagon (artist group)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pentagon is an artist group founded in Cologne in 1985 . Gerd Arens, Wolfgang Laubersheimer, Detlef Meyer-Voggenreiter, Reinhard Müller and Ralph Sommer were among the 5 members. The five members designed mainly metal and furniture constructions that are now in production at the Laubersheimer company.

“One of the icons of the“ new design ”is the Braced Shelf by Wolfgang Laubersheimer. He is a founding member of the Cologne designer group Pentagon, which was founded in 1985 with its own gallery. The name of the group refers to the number of its members. In 1987 Pentagon was represented at the 8th documenta in Kassel and set up the highly acclaimed Café Casino. The shelf is no longer part of the Pentagon collection (the gallery had to be closed in 1990). Laubersheimer took over the production himself and enriched the collection of the design agency Nils Holger Moormann, Aschau. "
