Pentawer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a Pentawer or Pentawere (t) a son of Ramses III. with his concubine Teje, who was accused of conspiracy against his father and sentenced to take his own life.

Surname

The actual name of the son has deliberately not been passed on. The judges used the term "Pentaweret, which bore that other name". The suppression of attribution due to his crime is known as Damnatio memoriae (Latin for condemnation of memory ).

Recent DNA analyzes indicate that the mummy of an unknown man ("Unknown Man E") from the Deir el-Bahari cachette could be the corpse of Pentawer.
