The People Mover in Venice is a cable car that connects the island of Tronchetto with Piazzale Roma .
history
In 2006, Doppelmayr was commissioned by the local road and parking management company Azienda Servizi Mobilità SpA (ASM) to build the 822-meter-long route. The 18 million euro route opened on April 19, 2010.
technology
The route runs from the island of Tronchetto via the Marittima station to Piazzale Roma not far from the Ponte della Costituzione . Two driverless trains, each with a capacity of 200 people, travel at a speed of 8 m / s on stilts at a height of seven meters. According to the operator ACTV , 3000 people can be transported per hour. The drive from Tronchetto to Piazzale Roma takes 3 minutes.
