Wig buck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A billy wig is a male deer (roebuck) that is no longer able to form perfect antlers due to the failure of the release of the sex hormone testosterone (due to illness, loss or damage to the testicles ) .

The bone substance of the antlers and in particular the bast (the skin that nourishes the antlers during antler formation) proliferate and growth does not come to a standstill, so that structures are formed that externally resemble a tower hairstyle or an allonge wig .

The growths can extend over the entire head and cover the eyes of the animal (lights). The animal is severely handicapped in its way of life, including eating, and is usually not able to reproduce.
