Per Kjeld Sørensen (born December 18, 1950 in Frederiksberg ) is a Danish Tibetologist .

Life

From 1971 to 1982 he studied Tibetology, Sinology and Indology at the University of Copenhagen (1982 Magister Tibetology). From 1982 to 1989 he was a research assistant at the Central Asian and East Asian Institute (KU), teaching and teaching experience from Sweden, Finland, Germany and the USA. After receiving his doctorate in 1990 on the topic: Divinity Secularized. An Inquiry into the Form and Nature of the Songs Ascribed to the VIth Dalai Lama , he had an Alexander von Humboldt scholarship from 1991 to 1992 at the University of Bonn. Subject: Tibetan Buddhist Historiography. From 1994 to 2017 he was Professor of Central Asian Studies. Institute for Indology and Central Asian Studies, at the University of Leipzig .
