Per Kværne

Per Kværne (born April 1, 1945 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian Tibetologist , religious scholar and art historian . He is particularly interested in the Tibetan Bon religion. In 1970, Per Kværne obtained the degree of Mag. Art. in Sanskrit at the University of Oslo . Between 1970 and 1975 he taught history of religion at the University of Bergen . Through his work An Anthology of Buddhist Tantric Songs , he received the degree of Dr. phil. from the University of Oslo. In 1976 Per Kværne became an elected member of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences . In 1992 he became chairman of the Institutet for sammenlignende kulturforskning . From 1975 to 2007 Per Kværne was Professor of Religious History at the University of Oslo and is now Professor emeritus .
