The Perdigueiro Português (Portuguese; Portuguese Pointing Dog ) is a Portuguese breed of dog recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 7, Section 1.1, Standard No. 187 ).
Origin and history
The Perdigueiro Português is an ancient Portuguese breed of hunting dog . The Portuguese breeding association assumes that the breed developed from the podengo de mostra , who lived in the 14th century and already showed the typical behavior of the pointing dogs. This was mainly used for falconry . The name of the breed includes the Portuguese word Perdiz for partridge . The breed type has been established for centuries.

The Perdigueiro Português grows up to 60 cm and weighs 27 kg. Yellow and brown, single-colored or white-spotted fur with short, strong hair, well-fitting, not too soft but dense. The ears are of medium length, thin, soft and covered with fine, dense and short hair.
